Companies are made up of people. And sometimes people don’t get along. Sometimes people are inconsiderate or forgetful. Sometimes people lack motivation and stop caring whether they produce good work. And all of that has the potential to hurt your business.
Herding cats. It’s a phrase that applies to someone tasked with bringing together a group of independent thinkers and getting them to behave as a group. Whoever came up with that phrase was probably a sales manager.
For your next meeting, use an outside facilitator. I’m not saying hire us – we’re not the right fit for everyone. But for Pete’s sake (not mine), every company should experiment at least once with using an independent, third-party facilitator for a meeting, retreat or conference.
